Sustainable Development in Brazil

Some of the most significant problems that the Brazilian economy is currently facing are environmental and social. The aforementioned issues have been of a prominent concern and had played an important commercial differentiator role in the Brazilian financial and investment community for nearly a decade. This is the reason why a new term has been introduced in the socio-economical terminology of the country; sustainable development. As a term sustainable development means that the country has to reduce the pressure on the country’s ecosystems and simultaneously create the proper circumstances for the creation of a socio-economical status quo that will give the proper means to the citizens of the country to leave a comfortable life. ++ more

Brazilian Economy: Growth and Development, 6th Edition, by Werner Baer

Brazil has undergone significant socio-economic changes since the 1930s and especially since World War II. This alternation in the economic status quo of the country played an important role in the region of Latin America. This book is trying to delineate the results of these changes by providing vast amounts of new statistical and institutional information. Additionally, issues such as privatization, income and regional inequalities, and the environmental impact of development are also extensively explored. The book will be valuable in a wide range of venues, from universities to the corporate world to the libraries of development organizations.

International Support for Domestic Climate Policies in Developing Countries, by Karsten M. Neuhoff

A relatively new issue in the economical status quo of most of the developing countries is domestic climate policies. Authorities of the aforementioned countries are deliberatively trying to shift their policy towards a low-carbon development trajectory. This book is trying by presenting six case studies to explore the domestic drivers and barriers for policies with climate (co-)benefits in developing countries. Additionally, the book is trying to highlight the fact that regarding the issue of climate policies social cooperation can also contribute to robust institutional frameworks and government policies that facilitate increased private sector investment, which supports low-carbon production and consumption.
