Special Focus: Poland |
The Republic of Poland, being a member of NATO and the European Union, with its significant economic and population potential, is an important actor on the international political scene. Membership in both organizations as well as the strategic partnership that the country developed throughout the years with the United States of America enhances Poland’s security and gives to the country a crucial and vital role in the geopolitical status quo of Central Europe. In order to foster the aforementioned position Poland has allocated 25,719 million zlotys to defence expenditures. The 2010 defence expenditures ceiling has been established as defined in the act dated 25 May 2001 on restructuring, technical modernization and financing of the Polish Armed Forces. According to it not less than 1.95% of the Gross Domestic Product of the previous year, should be allocated to defence.

In order to achieve this goal Poland has to form well- trained and equipped armed forces.
