In 2008, Israel has decided to begin its way to energy independence. Two crucial processes have been accelerated. On the one hand, a top-down process of reducing electricity consumption aimed at energy efficiency. On the other, a bottom-up process of electricity production from renewable energy sources has been emphasized and empowered by governmental incentives and feed-in tariffs for solar and wind energy.
