Citizant Wins $5 Million Data Management Support Task for DHS ICE

Citizant, a provider of Agile software development, DevOps automation, and business transformation and management services to the U.S. government, has been awarded the Data Management Support Services project with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The 4-year, $5-million task order, awarded under the DHS EAGLE II contract vehicle, will support ICE’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Technology Transformation Office/Data Management Branch.

ICE enforces federal laws governing border control, customs, trade and immigration to promote homeland security and public safety. ICE’s mission fulfillment depends on the degree to which its data about Enforcement and Removal Operations and Homeland Security Investigations is visible, understandable, consistent, complete and interoperable. Citizant will maintain ICE’s enterprise data architecture, improve meta-data quality, and sustain data sharing with external partners.

“ICE has an increasingly urgent and complex operating environment that requires strong data quality and governance protocols,” said Alba M. Alemán, CEO of Citizant. “Citizant’s long history with enterprise data management and information sharing initiatives at DHS and its components enables us to engage quickly with an enterprise view and help improve the quality and accessibility of immigration-related data. We look forward to introducing best practices from other government, commercial, and academic entities, such as MIT’s Information Quality and Chief Data Officer community, with which Citizant has a long-term, strategic partnership.”

Since the inception of DHS, Citizant has provided support across the Department and its components in the areas of data governance and stewardship; business and data architectures; conceptual and logical data models; and maintenance of the DHS Enterprise Architecture Information Repository. Our work on the DHS MGMT Cube, a business intelligence reporting platform, helps visualize data and answer department-wide business questions. It reduces data-call response times from weeks or months to just hours, improving visibility into departmental operations and resources. The MGMT Cube was nominated for ACT-IAC’s “Igniting Innovation Award” for its innovative approach to Enterprise Data Management. Citizant also manages implementation of the technical project portfolio at the Dept. of Justice’s Executive Office of Immigration Review.

Citizant is a founding and sustaining member of the International Society of Chief Data Officers (isCDO) and has a decade-long partnership with the CDO/Information Quality program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
