Win Chill and Tippmann Innovation Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony for Refrigerated Warehouse in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., June 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard attended the groundbreaking for the first project to be built in the new Foundation Park in Sioux Falls, SD. The 205,000 square foot cold storage facility was designed by Tippmann Innovation (TI) of Fort Wayne, IN. Sioux Falls local contractor Gil Haugan Construction, together with Tippmann Innovation, will build the 205,000 sq. ft. refrigerated warehouse. Win Chill, a development, transportation and logistics company, will own the new facility which will have the capacity to support food wholesalers, retailers, and food manufacturing customers in a four-state region.
The cutting-edge design features the latest refrigeration and freezing technology available in the cold storage industry. The new building will feature 205,000 square feet of public refrigerated warehouse space for a total of 7.7 million cubic feet of freezer and refrigerated capacity.
The advanced cold storage complex features a flexible, convertible design that is able to maintain temperatures ranging from 40°F to -20°F. Structural steel pallet racks will accommodate over 30,000 pallet positions. This includes 800 QF+ In-Rack Freezing System((TM)) positions, which combines blast freezing technology and pallet racking. QF+, designed by Tippmann Innovation, freezes pallets up to four times faster than traditional blast freezers with the ability to reduce energy consumption by as much as 50%.
The high-tech cold storage complex will feature 50 foot ceilings and 16 modern truck loading docks to accommodate dozens of refrigerated truckloads every day. In addition, the new facility will house three rail dock doors with access to the BNSF railroad network. This revolutionary design makes it possible for the Win Chill facility to complement the transportation and logistic needs of the South Dakota region, providing refrigeration and blast freezing services for truckloads of products every day.
The project is slated for completion in early spring 2018.
