FLEXcon Sponsors Flexographic Tech to Train Flexographic Press Operators

FLEXcon Company, Inc., an innovator in adhesive coating and laminating, today announced it is a sponsor of Flexographic Tech, a nonprofit educational resource that provides hands-on flexographic press operator training. FLEXcon’s sponsorship helps support a current market need for printer training resources and strengthens the company’s commitment to helping the flexographic industry grow.

The demand for trained print operators is growing, as both the industry need increases, and operators’ age advances. In fact, the printing industry in the United States is currently a $200 billion industry.

FLEXcon’s sponsorship supports Flexographic Tech’s vision to provide affordable, hands-on training for students seeking a future in flexographic printing. Located in Minneapolis, MN and serving students from all over the country, Flexographic Tech offer courses that instill an understanding of the entire flexographic workflow, coupled with hands-on education and execution of the printing process. Students are trained on a 13" 2200 Mark Andy 8-Color press.

“Working closely with flexographic printers every day, I know how important it is for my customers to have highly skilled operators to achieve the best quality product,” said Jeff Goulette, sales representative at FLEXcon. “FLEXcon understands the value in career development and is focused on providing resources for employees to advance their skills. Our sponsorship of Flexographic Tech allows us to give back to the printing community by enabling a training resource that will directly contribute to closing the skills gap within the Flexographic printing industry.”

Flexographic presses are faster and more efficient than ever before, which means flexographic printers need to be properly trained to operate the machinery. Flexographic printing requires a deep understanding of the equipment and materials as the printing process uses several ink and drying technologies. The Flexographic Tech instructors understand the importance of industry education and providing a resource that enables career development for printers.

“FLEXcon’s sponsorship enables our organization to continue to provide training resources to the printing industry,” said Shawn Oetjen, flexographic trainer at Flexographic Tech. “Working with manufacturers like FLEXcon, we are able to develop the next generation of printing talent. Flexographic Tech’s role in training press operators is vital to the future success of the flexographic printing market.”
