Larry Navy Lanier's Company, Mobile Fuel, Continues to Lead in Field of Motorist Empowerment Amid Ongoing Gas Station Crimes

ATLANTA, July 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Fuel was founded in 2010 by Larry Navy Lanier, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the past seven years, the company has set itself apart as a leader in the field of motorist empowerment. Lanier had developed a unique business model after a series of visits to the gas station in Atlanta, where he witnessed a number of violent crimes. Realizing that motorists are putting themselves in danger when they go to a gas station, he felt it was time for a different solution, which is gasoline delivery. He observed that having gasoline delivered was safe and convenient while allowing the motorist to save both time and money.

Rising Number of Crimes in Gas Stations

The city of Atlanta is not the only place where gas station crime is rife. In March this year, one man in Hillside, Chicago, Illinois, was filling up his VW Passat around 10:30 a.m. in the morning. As caught on camera, in an instant, a man got out from a different vehicle, jumped into the VW Passat, and then drove off. Thankfully, this was not a violent crime, but it was nevertheless very shocking.

Meanwhile, in May, something similar happened in Wisconsin. In this case, a woman was pumping gas, when a man, in an attempt not dissimilar to that of the event in Hillside, jumped behind the wheel of her vehicle and tried to take off. This particular woman acted on instinct, however, and jumped on the hood of her vehicle in an attempt to stop the carjacker. She held on for some time until the criminal stopped and took off, but not before he managed to grab her purse and ran away with it.

And it seems that even celebrities are not immune from this wave of crimes. In December last year, Queen Latifah was in Atlanta, the very city where Larry Navy Lanier decided to set up Mobile Fuel when her vehicle was stolen. An associate of the superstar was fueling up the car when someone pulled up in a different vehicle and one passenger simply jumped in Queen Latifah's BMW and drove off.

As stated, most carjacking incidents were non-violent, but other people have not been so lucky. Gas stations are also notorious targets for robberies, with criminals seeing them as an easy way to get money from cash registers, as well as other things, such as drinks and snacks. For Lanier, this was something that needed to change and he felt that law enforcement was simply not able to cope. Setting up more security around each gas station would be nearly impossible, and would come at a cost that few gas stations would be able to afford.

This was the motivation for his company, and one that he is increasingly happy he followed through. Indeed, his idea came in 2010, which was when he launched his company, and the three incidents mentioned above have happened since then, demonstrating that the wave of crimes is far from over and that gas stations continue to be unsafe places. His solution seems to have been what people have been looking for, as he has experienced tremendous growth. His business now operates in 18 cities.

Gas Stations Are Also Becoming Scarce

Interestingly, various news reports have revealed that traditional gas stations are slowly disappearing. Running a gas station 24/7 requires tremendous staffing costs, something that most small businesses, like gas stations, simply cannot afford. Costs of real estate and property taxes are also rising and mom-and-pop businesses are finding it harder to pay for equipment upgrades that are necessary for complying with stricter environmental standards. And with attractive offers to buy the gas station property, gas station owners are giving in to the temptation to sell their properties because their profit margins are quite small.

Growth of Mobile Fuel

Indeed, Navy Lanier was able to visualize a service that is very much needed. The result is rapid growth for the company, which now has more than 1,400 employees and 100,000 customers in the 18 cities. The company believes that delivering fuel directly to customers is a safer and healthier way for them to have access to high-quality fuel. Furthermore, people can use the time saved, by not having to go to a gas station, for more important tasks. The company can arrange fuel delivery at any location, including while at work or even on the go. And, of course, a very important benefit is that they are able to avoid becoming a victim of a violent crime or having their car stolen.
