Domtar Donates $100,000 to Office Depot Foundation Backpack Program for Children in the Charlotte Area & Nationwide

Domtar Corporation (NYSE: UFS) (SX: UFS) today announced that it has donated $100,000 to the Office Depot Foundation’s National Backpack Program. Domtar’s donation will help provide children in the Charlotte area—and across the country—with the supplies they need as the new school year begins. Of the 100,000 backpacks that will be distributed nationwide, 3,000 will be distributed to nonprofit organizations and schools in the Charlotte area.

3,000 of the colorful sackpacks containing essential school supplies are being donated to nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies in the Charlotte area during a special Back-to-School Celebration at 3:00 p.m. (ET) today, Thursday, August 17, at Classroom Central, located at 2116 Wilkinson Blvd. in Charlotte. The nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies scheduled to receive sackpacks in the Charlotte area on August 17 include:

  • A Child’s Place
  • City of Charlotte Department of Neighborhood & Business Services
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Activities League
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
  • Classroom Central
  • Trips for Kids
  • YMCA of Greater Charlotte

Domtar Director of Sales and Office Supply, Gregory Strand, and Senior Director of Corporate Communications, Kathy Wholley, will participate in the backpack presentation, along with other special guests such as, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Charlotte’s Mayor Pro Tem Vi Lyles, and other local government officials.
