Cleveland, Ohio Mayor Frank Jackson will receive the "Connected City Award" on behalf of the city of Cleveland, Ohio, this Friday from global wireless company, Mobilitie, LLC. The event, which will be held at the mayor's office in Cleveland City Hall, will feature the award presentation from Mobilitie to Mayor Jackson.

Cleveland's significant investment in the city-wide wireless network improvements places them as a leader in technological advancements. The dozens of small cells now installed around the city bring a significant improvement in wireless network coverage, capacity and speed, as well as readiness for 5G--the next generation of wireless connectivity. The Connected City Award recognizes metropolitan areas that demonstrate remarkable leadership in bringing 21(st)-century wireless connectivity to their neighborhoods.

A stronger wireless network means Cleveland is bridging the digital divide while strengthening their infrastructure and economy. Recent reports show that the deployment of small cells will help create jobs, attract and retain businesses and top talent, and prime the city for "smart city" features like smart grids and smart utilities.
