New Jersey American Water Investing $2.7 Million in New Water Mains in Ocean City

New Jersey American Water will be investing approximately $2.7 million for the installation of new water mains in its Ocean City service area. The company will be installing approximately 10,810 feet of new main in this area, replacing water main that was installed around the 1900s with new PVC pipe.

  • 51st Street, from Asbury Avenue to Central Avenue
  • North Street, from West Avenue to Atlantic Avenue
  • Wesley Road, from North Street to Battersea Road

“We are looking forward to beginning these substantial updates now that the unofficial end of summer is here,” stated Operations Supervisor Tim Green. “We are coordinating these projects closely with the city to ensure efficiencies and to make sure the main replacements are completed ahead of the upcoming city road reconstruction project.”

Green added that prior to work beginning, residents within the scope of these projects will receive a notice from Perna Finnigan with the actual start date. New Jersey American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.

This investment will continue to improve water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community. This improvement is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar program to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that is reaching the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.

New Jersey American Water has recently published an interactive Infrastructure Upgrade Map on its website to share details about its pipeline renewal projects, including these projects in Ocean City. The map is located at www.newjerseyamwater.com under Water Quality, System Updates.
