The global breathable films market is expected to grow during the forecast period. The major drivers of this growth will be the increasing awareness and concern for hygiene and healthy life. The baby boom in developing countries and increased aged population due to improved health services will drive the growth of diapers. With the increase in the food and beverage industry, the packaging industry will also be affected. Therefore, manufacturers are coming up with breathable films for the packaging industry so that the quality and freshness of the food items will be maintained during the shelf period.

Competitive vendor landscape

The global breathable films market is one of the growing markets worldwide. Vendors focus on the strong R&D of breathable films and high customization requirement from the end-user industries. Vendors compete based on factors such as innovative technologies, new product development, new product launches, and products with more application to the end-user industries.

“The competitive environment in the market might further intensify over the next five years with the increase in extension of product applications in terms of innovation in technology. Patents for some breathable films in the US have expired, and this will lead to new opportunities for new companies to come into the market with their products for baby and adult diapers,” says Kshama Upadhyay, a lead plastics, polymers, and elastomers research analyst from Technavio.
