Source Energy Optimization Team Earns Advanced Industry Certifications

Source Energy Optimization, a Source Refrigeration & HVAC business unit, announced that Justin Wilson, director of energy optimization, and Jeff Schmidt, senior energy optimization manager, have earned certifications from the industry’s top education programs offered by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and the Institute of Energy Professionals (IEP).

“We are proud of Justin’s and Jeff’s accomplishments and the expanded level of expertise that they are bringing to our customers,” said Adam Coffey, president and CEO of Source. “By achieving these certifications, we can continue to provide the latest energy optimization solutions and remain at the forefront of emerging industry trends.”

Wilson was certified and received board-level approval by the Association of Energy Engineers as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). In passing the rigorous CEM exam, Wilson demonstrated the technical strengths to effectively evaluate energy use and design energy optimization programs. Wilson joins the ranks of an elite group of 15,500 active CEMs worldwide who are strengthening the growing energy efficiency field.

The CEM designation is globally recognized within the energy optimization industry as the highest standard in personnel certification accreditation and is not tied to any specific vendor-training program. Accredited under ANSI/ISO/IEC Standard 17024, the CEM certification also is recognized under the Better Buildings Workforce Guidelines developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy.

Jeff Schmidt received two well-known certifications: the Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) designation and the Professional Energy Manager (PEM) certification. The PEM certification is an exclusive program developed with the highly regarded Institute of Energy Professionals (IEP) and is the longest running energy education program in the U.S. It is a vendor-neutral education and certification program and is a distinguished accreditation in the growing field of energy management. Additionally, the AEE CEA program is acknowledged under the Better Buildings Workforce Guidelines (BBWG) recognition.
