Volvo Cars Unveils the All-New XC40

XC40 Will Launch as the Most Powerful Luxury Compact SUV Priced Less than $40,000

MILAN, Sept. 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Today Volvo Cars unveiled the all-new XC40, the brand's first entry into the compact luxury SUV segment. The new XC40 is the first model on the Volvo Cars' new modular vehicle architecture (CMA) platform which will underpin all other upcoming vehicles in the 40 Series including fully electrified vehicles.

In Canada, Volvo will offer the XC40 with the T5 variant, and all-wheel-drive. The T5 engine offers a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder engine that is turbocharged and is equipped with an 8-speed gearbox, 250 horsepower and 258 ft. lb. of torque. Upon launch, the XC40 will enter the Canadian market as the most powerful base engine in the luxury compact segment, listed with a starting MSRP less than $40,000. Momentum and R-Design trims of the all-new XC40 will be available in Spring 2018, with the Inscription trim being available in the Summer of 2018.

The XC40 offers a new approach to storage inside the car. Ingenious interior design provides XC40 drivers with, among other things, more functional storage space in the doors and under the seats, a special space for phones including inductive charging, a fold-out hook for small bags and a removable waste bin in the tunnel console.

All of the technologies audiences have come to expect from Volvo's 90 and 60 Series' are also equipped in the all-new XC40, making it one of the best-equipped small premium SUVs on the market. Pilot Assist, City Safety and other safety features are available on the new SUV as is Sensus Navigation, 360° Camera and Volvo On Call among others.

Starting pricing for the XC40 in Canada is listed at a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $39,500 for the XC40 T5 Momentum. MSRP pricing for the XC40 T5 R-Design is $43,700. Packaging pricing is as follows: Momentum Plus ($2,600), Climate ($1,350), Vision ($1,800), Convenience ($1,600) and the XC40-specific White Contrast Package ($1,200) which offers a white contrast exterior roof, 19" 5-spoke white alloy wheels and white rearview mirror caps. Stand alone options include, but are not limited to, Metallic Paint ($900), Harmon Kardon Premium Sound System ($950), Sensus Navigation ($1,000) and the unique Lava Orange Floor Carpet, Tunnel Console & Door Panels ($100).
