PJM Among Most Adoption-Friendly U.S. Companies For 11th Consecutive Year

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For the 11(th) consecutive year the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has identified PJM Interconnection as one of the top adoption-friendly companies in the United States. PJM, operator of the nation's largest power grid, was ranked first in the nation among energy and utility companies.

The foundation ranked companies for the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces honor based on their adoption benefits, such as financial reimbursement for the costs of adoption and paid adoption leave for employees.

"PJM is built on a culture of caring that extends throughout our community and to our employees and their families. We remain committed to helping employees who wish to grow their families through adoption," said Nora Swimm, senior vice president - Corporate Client Services. "We are truly honored to be recognized for the 11(th) time."

Sean McNamara, director - IT Business Solutions, made use of PJM's benefits when adopting his daughter in 2013. He and his wife Kristen had cared for her since birth and adopted her at age five.

"Having the PJM adoption benefits was a blessing to our family. Our daughter has enriched our lives and family," said McNamara. "We are grateful for the PJM benefit and the help we received from the company."

The McNamaras also have two sons and reside in Gilbertsville, Pa.

The announcement of the 2017 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list precedes National Adoption Month, a collective campaign to raise awareness of the children in foster care waiting to get adopted. Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's and of the foundation, was adopted himself and was a champion of adoption.
