Faithful+Gould Will Provide Cost Estimating Services For The U.S. Department Of Energy 2017 Solar Decathlon

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Faithful+Gould, a world-leading project and program management consultancy, is pleased to announce that the firm will be providing cost estimating services for the U.S. Department of Energy 2017 Solar Decathlon for the fourth year in a row. The firm will provide these services through a contract with Energetics, the administrator for the biennial competition, which is in Denver, Colorado, on October 5-15, 2017.

Initiated in 2002, the Solar Decathlon is a collegiate competition where students are tasked with designing and building full-size, solar-powered houses. The experience provides students with the necessary tools to learn and promote the benefits, affordability, and availability of clean energy solutions worldwide.

"We're delighted to be a part of this year's competition," said Faithful+Gould Senior Estimator Nathan McGhee. "We look forward to guiding the students throughout the cost estimation portion of the competition, and to contribute to their learning experience from a project management perspective. Sustainable energy is an important initiative for us, and getting behind this competition is a positive step for everyone involved."

Since getting involved in 2013, Faithful+Gould's role has evolved with the structure of the competition. This year, the firm will provide templates to guide the student teams as they develop cost estimates for their competition houses. Both McGhee and Faithful+Gould Estimator Peter Schneider will inspect the finished competition houses on October 1, 2017, to determine whether the cost estimates associated with each house align with the completed product, and provide a summary of findings to competition management, jurors and teams.
