V5 Systems Solar-powered, 3rd Party Camera Platform (V5 CAP) Wins Accolades Competition at ASIS 2017 Annual Seminar and Exhibits

FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- V5 Systems won the Accolades Competition at the ASIS 2017 Seminar and Exhibits for its V5 Camera Adaptive Platform (V5 CAP), a unique solar-powered computing platform that supports 3(rd) party surveillance cameras in outdoor environments where there is no connection to the electrical grid. As a result, the solution improves public safety even in remote outdoor areas or blind spots.

At the ASIS event, which is being held in Dallas, Texas, September 25(th) to 28(th), V5 Systems was presented "2017 Security's Best Award" for their V5 CAP.

The V5 CAP is an ongoing power source that addresses two fundamental challenges in security. The first challenge is accessing power in outdoor environments, which usually requires trenching for connectivity, a process that is costly and time-consuming. The second challenge is establishing communications and networking all existing security components together with these new outdoor security solutions. The V5 CAP solves both challenges. It's an end-to-end power, communications and computing platform, enabling integration of any 3(rd) party surveillance camera and any 3(rd) party Video Management System (VMS). This solution can instantly transform any surveillance camera into a self-powered outdoor device.

V5 CAP highlights:

-- Ongoing power with a combination of bullet-resistant solar panels and
        battery management system
-- Option to use V5 Systems free Video Management Systems (VMS) or
        integrate any 3(rd) party VMS
-- Up to 1TB (about month's worth of 24/7 HD video streaming) on the device
        itself
-- Wireless Communications via WiFi, cellular, Radio Frequency or other
        options

The ASIS Accolades Competition is the sixth industry award V5 Systems has won this year and the 10(th) award since 2016, a series of wins that validates the company's innovative technology among industry professionals

The unique value of the technology has also been validated in the marketplace. For example, UCLA wanted to provide additional dorm security. The university was previously not able to provide security in areas due to the two challenges: the cost of trenching for power/communications and timing restrictions that inevitably come with it. Even if the UCLA had an allocated budget, trenching would only be possible during the summer when school is not in session. For the solution, UCLA selected the V5 CAP with Axis Communications cameras and RF by Ubiquiti.

During the ASIS event, V5 Systems will also be presented with three of Security Today magazine's New Product of the Year Awards. The award program, now in its ninth successful year, honors the outstanding product development achievements of security equipment manufacturers whose products are considered particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve security.

V5 Systems won Security Today's new-product awards in all three categories it entered: V5 Portable Edge Computing Unit (PECU-Dell) won the Internet of Things category, and V5 Systems Portable Security Unit with Analytics and Cellular (V5 PSU-AC) is a winner in both the Outdoor Perimeter Protection and the Video Surveillance Hardware & Accessories categories. These consistent wins further validate the high regard the security industry has for V5 Systems' technology.

Earlier in the year, the V5 Systems swept two wins in the Security Industry Association's New Product Showcase (SIA NPS) at the ISC West trade show in both categories the company entered. The SIA NPS is the security industry's premier awards-based marketing program and is judged by volunteers who are experts in security technology design and application. ISC West is the largest security industry trade show in the U.S., attracting over 29,000 security professionals annually.

V5 Systems scored a win at ISC West in the category "Video Surveillance Hardware and Accessories" for its solar-powered V5 Camera Adaptive Platform (V5 CAP), which can provide perpetual power to 3rd party security cameras in the outdoors. It also won the "Emergency Communications/Mass Notifications Systems" category for its V5 Acoustic Gunshot Sensor. The ability of V5 Systems technology to serve other companies in the security industry in bringing improved public safety to the outdoors assures that V5 Systems will continue to play a pivotal and growing role in the industry.
