IEE Ruggedized Displays Exhibited at AUSA 2017

IEE, a manufacturer of enhanced displays for military applications, will be exhibiting at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition, Oct. 9th-11th in Washington, DC. IEE will be showcasing its line of ruggedized displays including ground vehicle Control Display Units (CDUs), hand-held devices, and avionics Multi-Function Displays (MFDs).

IEE’s displays for Light-Armored Vehicles (LAVs) include a 12.1-inch Smart-Touch CDU display with low latency video processing, expandable COTS open architecture, and Gigabit Ethernet networked processing. This display provides a basis for a wide range of current and future Vetronics architectures including the US Army VICTORY Architecture and NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA).

12.1” AMLCD Display Features:

  • High Bright XGA display
  • Armored resistive 5-wire touch-screen
  • Intel x86 dual-core processor
  • High-performance video and graphics processing
  • Low latency video selection from multiple sources
  • Frame grabber image capture
  • Modular scalable design to match system architecture
  • MIL-STD 810; MIL-STD 461; MIL-STD 1275

IEE will also be featuring a line of avionics replacement displays, including a 3 ATI and a 6”x6” MFD display. Targeted first for the F-15 Multi-Purpose Display, the 6”x6” display provides a Form, Fit, Function, Interface (F3I) direct replacement for previously fielded Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) technology displays. Designed for modularity and support for expansion to use open standard interfaces, this display will provide full backward compatibility while providing a platform to integrate the latest in video and processing features; such as digital video (DVI, SMPTE-292), fiber video (ARINC-818), and networked architectures (GigE-Vision).

The 3 ATI display is also an ideal replacement for legacy CRT obsolescence mitigation or technology insertion on airborne platforms, offering significant life-cycle improvements. This display features a System on Module (SOM) with a microprocessor, Digital Signal Processor, and Graphics Accelerator, that together offer high levels of computing and advanced video performance. Many I/O configurations are available, including Ethernet, S-Video, RS-232/422, 1553, ARINC 429 and ARINC 818. The display luminance is controlled by a front panel rotary encoder under firmware control.

“By designing with modularity and open standards, IEE displays efficiently provide the backward compatibility required to extend the life of existing weapon platforms,” said Steve Motter, Vice President of Business Development for IEE. “IEE excels in optimizing a display’s size, weight, power and cost, (SWaP-C) and interoperability.”

IEE is exhibiting at AUSA 2017, Oct. 9th-11th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington DC. Stop by booth #8229 or make an appointment with Steve Motter by calling toll-free 1-800-422-0867, ext. 327, or email sales@ieeinc.com.
