State Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (D-65) to Present Proclamation at Fullerton College in Honor of Manufacturing Day

In celebration of Manufacturing Day 2017, California State Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva will be presenting a proclamation recognizing CMTC – the California Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center and partnering organizations for their efforts in promoting this event. Receiving the award will be CMTC President & CEO James Watson.

As part of the North Orange County Community College District’s Manufacturing Day week of celebrations, over 100 high school students from La Vista/La Sierra, La Habra and Savanna High Schools will be visiting Fullerton College to tour their Machine Technology and printing technology programs.
 

Fullerton College President Greg Schulz, Ed.D., and North Orange County Community College District Chancellor Cheryl A. Marshall, Ed.D., will also be speaking to the students at the presentation ceremony.

 
 

WHY:

Manufacturing Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing during which manufacturers invite their communities — including students, educators, businesspeople, media, and politicians — to their facilities in a collective effort to educate visitors about manufacturing career opportunities and improve public perceptions of manufacturing.

CMTC, a private non-profit corporation, was established in 1992 to provide consulting services to small and medium-sized manufacturers in California. In 2016, The U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) awarded CMTC a five-year agreement to be California’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Center. This agreement makes CMTC the lead organization for delivering services to small and medium-sized manufacturers in California with support of partners throughout the state.
