Enjoin Adds HCC and Risk Adjustment to CDocT® Web Application for CDI Teams

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Enjoin, a physician-led clinical documentation integrity company, announced today the expansion of its CDocT web-based application. The new module includes educational resources and reference materials to drive correct hierarchical condition category (HCC) capture and accurate risk adjustment reporting in physician practices, hospitals and health systems.

The announcement was made by James P. Fee, MD, CCS, CCDS, Vice President, Enjoin, during the opening of AHIMA17 Convention & Exhibit in booth #323 and will be showcased at AHIMA's Product World during the presentation by Enjoin "Aligning CDI with Value-Based Care" in Theatre K on Tuesday, October 10(th) at 12 PM. Non-attendees can request a demonstration at www.enjoincdi.com/cdoct.

HCCs are the basis for risk adjustment in Medicare Advantage and other value-based purchasing models. Health Care Options (HCOs), Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) all use HCC risk adjustment. While HCCs have the greatest impact on physician practices, the entire healthcare industry has a vested interest in accurate HCC capture.

Getting HCCs right requires support from physicians, clinical documentation improvement (CDI) specialists, physician advisors and coders. "As a new concept for most physicians and physician extenders, HCCs will be the next main focus for CDI teams," said Dr. Fee. To fill the knowledge void, Enjoin compiled an extensive library of HCC and risk adjustment content and evidence-based guidelines as a new module within their proven CDocT application introduced at last year's AHIMA Convention to support claims-based quality measures.

Developed by board-certified physicians and CDI experts, the modules complement Enjoin's services for CDI program evolution under value-based care. "Instead of searching the web to find relevant information, users of the CDocT web-based application find everything they need about HCCs and risk adjustment in a single location for training and documentation improvement," said Wendy Clesi, RN, CCDS, CDIP, Executive Director, CDI Services, Enjoin.

According to Sonia Trepina, MPA, Director, Ambulatory CDI Services, Enjoin, "With a comprehensive Key Condition Reference Guide organized by body system, select conditions and procedures with associated clinical definitions, evaluations and therapies, assist in ensuring clinical validity."

Content within the new module supports the expansion of CDI through education, synthesis of complex concepts, CDI tips and chart review checklist (audit assistance). The application uses a data-driven and evidence-based approach to help physician practices and other provider organizations prepare for the shift in payment methods today, and as value-based programs continue to evolve.
