Bemis Associates Reimagines Intimates in China with Sewfree® Bonding Technology

Bemis Associates, bonding innovation and design partner to the world’s leading intimates, lifestyle, luxury, and sportswear brands, unveil Sewfree® Elevation, a new adhesive for heat-sensitive fabrics at Interfilière Shanghai on October 10-11, 2017. Bemis is also showcasing the Lingerie to Live In Collection, its first intimates collection of bonded bras, panties, and men’s boxers in collaboration with Hong Kong-based intimates manufacture, Clover.

This latest foray into the intimates market coincided with a substantial consumer insights project that informed the design and fit of the entire collection.

New Collaborations and Innovations

The power of Bemis and Clover’s partnership are on display at Central Hall 3, Booth #1C29. Bemis’ first intimates collection, Lingerie to Live In, are being shown as full garments and as deconstructed applications, allowing designers to touch and feel exactly how Sewfree elevates both fit and function in next-to-skin clothing. The applications displayed were designed to address the limitations of traditional construction and prove that Sewfree not only provides tangible benefits to the consumer, but also improves manufacturing efficiencies during production.

Understanding the Market

On October 10^th from 10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Nida Suhail, Bemis Design Lead & Application Developer, and Lacey Johnson, Global Brand Manager, hosted an educational workshop at Studio of Central Hall 3. Titled Not your Mother’s Intimates Drawer: 5 Ways Chinese Millennials are Transforming the Intimates Market, the salon explored how evolving cultural trends among Chinese women have affected apparel and intimates design. Bemis’ Lingerie to Live In collection was on-hand for attendees to view.

Sewfree on the Runway

Bemis’ Sewfree designs are taking to the runway in this year’s Prototype Fashion Show, a live presentation to inspire and inform visitors through original combinations of fabrics and innovative techniques. Attendees should be on the look-out for two styled ensembles as selected by Jos Berry, founder and CEO of Concepts Paris as well as the creative force behind the Trend Forum, highlighting elements from Bemis’ Lingerie to Live In Collection in the “Athleisure & Beach” and “Sexy & Sporty” categories. These looks bring Sewfree to life through all-over comfort and a layer of luxe through bonded lace.

Award-Winning Designs

As a result of its imaginative design ideas, innovative Sewfree product applications, and deep consumer expertise, Bemis has been awarded the esteemed Jury’s Favorite Interfeel’ Award. The jury, comprised of eight trend-focused bodyfashion industry leaders, present this award to only one Interfilière exhibitor each year to honor a best-in-class display of creative ideas and fashion-forward technology in the intimates space. The award was presented to Bemis Associates on Oct 10^th at 10:15AM at the Interfeel’ Award presentation ceremony.

Examples of Bemis’ Sewfree products and applications are also appearing at the Trend Forum. Attendees will be able to view a variety of intriguing designs in accordance with this years’ themes – from colorful lattice, floral, and emboss prints to low-profile comfort options and soft 3D construction concepts all using Sewfree technology.
