Disruptive U.S. Manufacturer Plants One Millionth Tree, Sets Sights on Global Reforestation

Woodchuck USA, a global leader in the manufacture of high-quality, custom wood products, today announced that it has planted its one millionth tree, impacting reforestation efforts on six continents. This is a direct result of the ‘Buy One. Plant One.’ program, in which Woodchuck plants a tree for each item sold.

Started in 2012, Woodchuck USA is on pace to hit $10 million in revenue for 2018, with 50 full-time employees. The company has consistently experienced an average of 100 percent year-over-year growth, a figure that’s unheard of in today’s US manufacturing landscape. In addition, since starting their ‘Buy One. Plant One.’ program in 2015, the company has made a global impact on reforestation, with trees now being planted on six continents.

“A million trees in two years is just the beginning,” said Woodchuck founder and CEO, Ben VandenWymelenberg. “We’re here to inspire the wonder of nature throughout our global communities, to help maintain Earth’s biodiversity and ultimately, to reforest the entire planet.”

On average, Woodchuck plants between 2,500 and 4,000 trees for every one used in their highly-efficient manufacturing process. The company currently spends more than 50 percent of their profits on tree planting initiatives and employs 40 full-time workers around the clock, creating thousands of custom-made products each day at their facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“We’re in beast mode every single day making sure our grandchildren’s children will have natural places to explore and experience life to the fullest,” said VandenWymelenberg. “When someone buys one of our premium wood products, they can experience the difference they're making globally through our ‘Buy One. Plant One’ web page by connecting with their tree’s individual story.”

The new ‘Buy One. Plant One’ web page allows customers to enter the code that comes with each purchase to reveal the location of the tree that customer helped plant. The site then provides information about the impact new trees are making on the local community and environment, connecting the consumer back to nature in a specific and unique way.
