Experts From Department of Defense Coming to San Diego October 20 and Honolulu October 23 to Help Train DoD Contractors on New DFARS 7012 Cybersecurity Requirements; Small Business Training Discount Extended Through October 17

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Defense contractors across the supply chain, from the largest Prime contractors to the smallest Subcontractors, are bracing for a December 31(st) deadline to become compliant with a complex set of cybersecurity requirements mandated by the DFARS 252.204-7012 clause "Safeguarding Controlled Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting". Many contractors are not fully aware of the scope and complexity of the requirements, or don't realize there is an end-of-year deadline for compliance.

In response to the urgent need for awareness building, training, and legal interpretation of the clause and its impacts on defense contractors, nationwide training is being produced by the non-profit Cyber Collaboration Center, with speakers including Ms. Vicki Michetti, Office of the DoD CIO; Ms. Mary Thomas, Office of the Secretary of Defense; Alexander Major and Franklin Turner, defense contract law specialists from McCarter & English LLP; and Tim Williams, Technical Director of eResilience, a new division of cybersecurity firm Referentia Systems. "DFARS 7012 Cybersecurity Compliance Boot Camp" classes run Friday October 20(th), 2017 from 0800 to 1630 PDT at the Hilton San Diego Airport / Harbor Island, with simultaneous live streaming available nationwide, and Monday October 23(rd) in Honolulu at the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce.

Training costs $795, proceeds cover the costs of the non-profit Cyber Collaboration Center's DFARS 7012 Awareness Campaign, including production of the Boot Camp training events, webinars, and other community outreach. A special $200 discount for Small Businesses with less than 150 employees has been extended through October 17(th), through partnership with local organizations such as AFCEA, NDIA, and NIST MEPs.
