American Diabetes Association® Tour de Cure offers variety of ways to get active while supporting more than 2.8 million Texans living with diabetes

DALLAS, Oct. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Saturday, October 14, the American Diabetes Association (Association) will host the annual Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Tour de Cure at South Fork Ranch in Parker, Texas. The ride, run and walk will raise funds for research, programs and education that will help treat and prevent diabetes, find possible cures and improve the lives of all living with and affected by diabetes. The 2016 DFW Tour de Cure engaged more than 1,100 community participants to raise nearly $700,000 in support of the Association's mission, and the DFW Tour de Cure team seeks to increase its impact this year.

The DFW Tour de Cure offers scenic, safe and well-marked routes for all ages and ability levels, including: a 5K Walk/Run and six cycling routes - 3 miles, 10 miles, 24 miles, 38 miles, 52 miles and 62 miles. Participants living with diabetes are encouraged to register as Red Riders and Red Striders to be celebrated the day of the event.

The DFW Tour de Cure also features activities and entertainment for individuals from all walks of life, including "Flight Zone," a family activities area and a photo booth. After completion of the walk/run and rides the celebration will continue through 3:00 p.m. CT as a community festival featuring complimentary food and beverages for participants, live music, family-friendly activities and much more. Community members not participating in the walk/run or rides are welcome to join in the fun at the community festival.
