Delta Faucet, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and Nate Berkus Celebrate National Design Week with Eye on Interior Design

NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of Cooper Hewitt's National Design Week, Delta Faucet has partnered with Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and interior designer Nate Berkus to showcase the evolution of home design and reveal a transformative, conceptual faucet that embraces how we experience wellness with water.

"As stylistic elements and design preferences evolve, our work must push boundaries to meet designers and homeowners where they are and where they want to be," said Catherine Roper, Delta(©) brand marketing director. "We're excited to partner with Cooper Hewitt and Nate Berkus - two incredible forces in the world of design - to shine a light on kitchen and bath design, and the exciting possibilities of tomorrow."

During a design-elite evening aptly titled 'Design Forward,' in the Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden at Cooper Hewitt, the Delta brand team and designer Nate Berkus will share a fresh perspective on past, present and future interior design styles, visually punctuated with items from Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection, available for viewing online at collection.cooperhewitt.org. From 1970s wicker and shag to the modern maker culture, and more, the discourse highlights how Americans live with designs they love. The evening culminates with the reveal of the Delta Sphere((TM)) faucet, a conceptual design that anticipates interior design styles of the future.

"As we look forward, it will be interesting to watch how design leans into key cultural moments around technology and wellness, to offer solutions without compromising style," said interior designer Nate Berkus. "Pioneering brands such as Delta continue to push design innovation to enhance the way we live in our homes, especially when it comes to the kitchen and bath."

Inspired by a return to the elements, the Delta Sphere faucet was designed to embrace nature and wellness as the world continues to lean into technology and connectivity. The conceptual faucet evokes spa-like serenity with its thin, 3D-printed band that wraps around a floating globe of water. The simple, geometric shape represents purity of form and purposefully conceals its innovative technology. This faucet is as visually stunning as it is engaging with its almost magical water experience. The eye-catching globe of water leverages technology to create water that is soft to the touch and emits a delicate waterfall-like sound to create a transformative experience of relaxation and rejuvenation in the bath.

In addition to the innovative faucet reveal, the Delta brand team and Nate Berkus will share home design perspectives and the importance of living with what you love in the presence of impactful Cooper Hewitt exhibitions on view, including "Joris Laarman Lab: Design in the Digital Age" and "Making | Breaking: New Arrivals."

"We are pleased to welcome Delta as a design-forward partner given our shared appreciation for design excellence and innovation," said Caroline Baumann, director, Cooper Hewitt. "Through their major support of the National Design Awards, our most prominent education initiative, Delta is helping Cooper Hewitt to connect more audiences with design's life-changing impact as we celebrate the Awards and share our winners with the public during National Design Week, expand our Awards-related programming to major cities throughout the United States, and reach millions more online."

Delta Faucet serves as lead sponsor of the 2017 National Design Awards, established in 2000 as a project of the White House Millennium Council to honor lasting achievement in American design. The National Design Awards are accompanied each year by National Design Week, which takes place Oct. 14-22.
