MassBio Teams Up with Powering Precision Health 2017
BOSTON and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MassBio) is teaming up with Powering Precision Health Summit to improve patient lives by advancing cutting-edge research that will transform today's reactive sick care into a proactive and preventative healthcare model. The summit will take place on October 24(th) and 25(th) at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge.

Earlier this year, the Baker-Polito Administration announced a legislative proposal to bolster Massachusetts' leadership in the life sciences sector, providing up to $500 million over five years for strategic investments in public infrastructure, research and development, workforce training and education, including up to $295 million in capital authorization and up to $150 million job-creating tax incentives. Additionally, Governor Charlie Baker and the Massachusetts Life Science Center announced $39 million in capital funding for research centers and life sciences training facilities at colleges, universities, middle schools and high schools across the Commonwealth.

The second annual Powering Precision Health Summit will feature over 50 medical experts hailing from the nation's top medical institutions, including Harvard, Tufts, Yale, MIT, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston University, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dana Farber, Cedars-Sinai and Penn State. These speakers represent the leading biomarker researchers and clinicians in the U.S. who are working to collaborate on a cure for cancers, such as breast cancer and pancreatic cancer, for neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's Disease, ALS, CTE, and for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
