#D1Conf to Focus on Hands-On Experience in Decentralized Insurance

CANCUN, Mexico, Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Decentralized Insurance Developer Conference (#D1Conf) will take place on October 31, 2017, in Cancun, Mexico. Attendees will learn how to build blockchain-based insurance products, getting familiar with open tools, standards, protocols, and smart-contract templates.

New disruptive models

The event will be opened by Stephan Karpischek and Christoph Mussenbrock of Etherisc, a Munich-based insurtech startup. Followed by a keynote on decentralized decision-making in insurance (by Matan Field of DAOStack), a diverse program will feature 10 interactive sessions and four workshops. Two panels will also discuss decentralized claims management and the prediction market for insurance.

"Decentralization is about much more than just business or technology," commented Stephan Karpischek, a co-founder of Etherisc. "It's about new models and incentives to engage and interact. We are creating platforms, protocols, cooperatives, and a thriving community to build decentralized insurance together."

"Insuring ourselves against losses or damages is a millennia-old desire of mankind. Right now, we have the opportunity to re-evaluate which of the intermediaries in insurance today actually provide value," added Dr. Sebastian Bürgel of Validity Labs. "Blockchain has the potential to massively disrupt the existing industry and we will actively contribute to the first generation of decentralized insurances at #D1Conf."
