10 Veteran Families to Receive the Life-Changing Gift of Independence Thanks to Small Businesses Nationwide

We’ve all heard the stories – a veteran left disabled and disheartened after years of military service struggling to navigate their health care options and longing for the independence they once had. Many of our country’s veterans struggle with everyday tasks, such as bathing, becoming impossible. For this reason, 10 home improvement companies from across the country decided to take action, band together and create Baths for the Brave, a one-day event planned for Wednesday, Nov. 8. This event will provide veterans with a brand-new tub or shower system, free of charge, to improve the quality of their lives.

Participating home improvement companies include:

  • Alenco Home Improvement; Lenexa, Kan.
  • Brytons Home Improvement; Winterville, N.C.
  • Fairbanks Construction; Ocala, Fla.
  • Hullco; Chattanooga, Tenn.
  • MaxHome; New Orleans, La.
  • NEWPRO Home Improvement; Woburn, Mass.
  • Reborn Cabinets Inc.; Anaheim, Calif.
  • Tiger Bath Solutions; Bolingbrook, Ill.
  • Tundraland Home Improvements; Kaukauna, Wis.
  • West Shore; Mechanicsburg, Pa.

“Baths for the Brave is truly going to change the lives of these veterans, who each have an inspiring life story. Each day these veterans wake up feeling like guests in their own homes but on Nov. 8, they will go to bed with peace of mind knowing they can bathe safely and independently,” Brian Gottlieb, president and owner of Tundraland Home Improvements and founder of Baths for the Brave, said. “The other really awesome thing about Baths for the Brave is that these remodels are happening simultaneously across the country, with all of the participating companies capturing parts of the installs in real time, via Facebook Live, so the public can follow along with our veterans.”

Baths for the Brave stemmed from a similar initiative Gottlieb and his team at Tundraland Home Improvements created locally in their hometown, near Green Bay, Wisconsin, called Tundraland Cares. Through that program, Gottlieb has provided veterans in need and deserving families with remodeled bathrooms, standing wheelchairs and family vacations to Disney World, all free of charge.

“It means everything to us to be able to give back to our community, especially to our country’s heroes who have sacrificed so much,” Gottlieb said. “Giving back is a fundamental way of life for us at Tundraland. It’s more than what we do; it’s who we are. Our whole team is on board and passionate about it, so taking this program nationwide was something we were all very excited about. We’re thankful our partnering home improvement companies have similar values. Our hope is that this initiative continues to grow, so we may serve many more veterans in the years to come.”
