William & Mary is a cutting-edge research university and is the second-oldest institution of higher education in the United States.
Based on the namesake of the popular television show that pits upstart business ideas against a group of seasoned executives, the Shark Tank Initiative gives William & Mary student entrepreneurs the opportunity to present solutions to real-world problems to a panel of experts. Past entrepreneurial proposals included the use of Artificial Intelligence in the Microfinance space and the use of Web Scraping to track real time attitudes towards the US in foreign media. The teams with the best pitches are eligible to win funding for their ideas.
