Military.com's Transition App Will Expand with Additional Information and Resources for Military Spouses and Veterans with Disabilities

MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Military.com announced today that the Transition App, supported by Citi and launched in August 2016, has reached nearly 25,000 downloads and will expand to include tailored content for military spouses and veterans with disabilities.

The Transition App, available for free on Google Play and in the Apple App store, walks the user through a checklist of "to do" items as far as 18 months before separation and provides resources and information related to jobs, skills translation, relocation, benefits and more. The app is currently designed for all branches of the armed forces (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard), and National Guard and reserve components.

In 2018, the app will expand to include enhanced information with specific resources for military spouses and veterans with disabilities.

The National Military Family Association is an advisor and partner in developing the additional content and in helping to identify what spouses needed to see in the expanded App. The result is a more focused process and additional content that will show the spouse what their military member is seeing on their checklist and address issues pertinent to them as they make the transition from military life to civilian life.

"Military.com's free transition app is a great tool for service members preparing to leave the military and we are proud to assist in the development of the military spouse content in the next edition. Planning is key, and the app helps transitioning troops and their families check the boxes to ensure they are financially and professionally ready to move to the civilian world," said Joyce Raezer, Executive Director of the National Military Family Association.

For ill or injured veterans, the app will feature additional information at key points during their transition to ensure those veterans with disabilities have the resources they need during and after the transition process.

Diane Jones, an Air Force veteran, said the app was, "Very informative and covers all the key resources a Veteran would need to know to be successful on the other side. I like how the links take you to local information in your area regarding job fairs and other employment resources. This app covers it all! Our next generation of veterans is lucky to have a resource like this to assist with transitioning."

"For service members and their families looking to transition back to civilian life, access to resources and how to translate job skills is vital to enabling positive career growth," said Ruth Christopherson, Senior Vice President of Citi Community Development and Citi Salutes and retired Colonel of the South Dakota Air National Guard. "Citi's expanded collaboration with Military.com on the Transition App will continue to help enable transitioning service members, military spouses and service members with disabilities gain the support they need to achieve stability and long term resilience."
