“I am looking forward to this role to further develop the workforce in Southwest Central Indiana,” said Gutman. “Cook and Ivy Tech have already established a great program to link students to excellent career opportunities in Region 14, and I’m excited to learn and share best practices so that we can expand our impact.”

Ivy Tech’s Region 14 is comprised of Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Owen, and the eastern portion of Greene County. Cook Group has more than 5,000 employees in the area. Gutman will serve as the Region 14 representative beginning November 1, 2017, through June 30, 2020.

“We already have an excellent partnership with Ivy Tech’s Achieve Your Degree program as part of our larger My Cook Pathway employee development program,” said Pete Yonkman, president of Cook Group and Cook Medical. “We believe that Gretchen will be able to make a tremendous contribution by working with Ivy Tech to further build and connect the talent pipeline throughout the state.”

About Cook Group
In 1963, Bill and Gayle Cook created a small company that manufactured three simple medical devices used to treat patients in less invasive ways than common surgical techniques of the time. That small company grew into Cook Medical, with global reach and products for treating conditions in almost every system of the body and area of the hospital.

Along the way, this entrepreneurial family branched out into other areas of business – to explore new types of medical treatment; to support their passions, like historic preservation; and to support their growing group of employees and the communities where they live. Cook Group was created to provide support and oversight to the Cook companies, which remain family owned.
