Security Current Releases CISO-Authored Research Report on Endpoint Security

TENAFLY, N.J., Nov. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Security Current today announced the release of its CISO-authored report, CISOs Investigate: Endpoint Security. An ongoing CISO-authored research series, this report offers security leaders real-world insights as they make business-driven technology decisions.

CISOs Investigate: Endpoint Security includes contributions from security leaders who have deployed or are looking to deploy third-party solutions. The report replaces the ad hoc, often informal and time-consuming processes of personally gathering peer insight. Spanning verticals, the CISO contributors share first-hand use cases and provide guidance.

University of Wisconsin-Madison CISO Bob Turner served as the lead researcher and author on the report.

CISO contributors include:
ADP, Vice President, Global Security Architecture, V.Jay LaRosa
American Bureau of Shipping, CISO, Mike Davis
ASRC Federal, CISO, Darren Death
Madison Gas and Electric, Director, Security, Infrastructure and Operations (CISO equivalent), Max Babler
National Life Group, Former CISO, Andrew Speirs

Western Digital Corporation, Vice President, Information Security, Geoffrey Aranoff

The report includes an overview of the technology, staffing implications, recommendations for selling endpoint security to the C-Suite and possible objections. It also features a market assessment based on responses to a Request for Information (RFI) submitted by 19 vendors. Developed by CISOs, the RFIs, which are included in the report, highlight the most important technology aspects of the potential solutions. Endpoint security vendors were invited to complete RFIs. There was no cost to participate.

"In the new age of cyberattacks, endpoint devices are the frontline. Traditional antivirus protections are no longer enough. Enterprises of all sizes, and all industry segments, are now looking for better solutions," said Bob Turner, lead author and CISO at University of Wisconsin- Madison. "In CISOs Investigate: Endpoint Security, my CISO peers and I examine the new tools we have at our disposal and we review the business requirements that went or are going into making our technology decisions. We also look at how well the solutions worked in practice and we offer advice to peers facing similar problems."

The report is available for download at www.securitycurrent.com. It is also being distributed by the report's sponsors: Diamond Sponsor Carbon Black; Platinum Sponsor Cylance; Gold Sponsors Bromium and IBM; and Silver Sponsor Kaspersky Lab.

"There is no other report specifically on endpoint security available to CISOs, like CISOs Investigate: Endpoint Security, on the market," said Matt Hollcraft, Maxim Integrated Chief Cyber Risk Officer. "As CISOs, traversing that line between enabling the business while ensuring security is something we contend with daily. Endpoint security is particularly critical as it is the new perimeter. There is nothing more valuable than the experience of our peers and their insights. This report provides just that. As well, it gives us a repository of CISO created RFIs that we can use to shortlist our prospective vendors."
