Ardent Health Services Appoints Frank J. Campbell, M.D. Chief Medical Officer

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ardent Health Services today announced the appointment of Frank J. "FJ" Campbell, M.D. as chief medical officer. In this role, Dr. Campbell will work with physicians and other leaders across the company's 21 hospitals to improve quality through system-wide outcomes measurement and performance improvement initiatives.

Dr. Campbell brings more than a decade of experience providing local and national outcomes-based leadership in a variety of care settings, including large hospitals, health systems, urgent care and outpatient centers. Prior to joining Ardent, he was vice president of clinical services for Community Health Systems since 2014 where he led quality improvement and value-based purchasing activities for the company's 130 acute-care hospitals. Previously, he served as chief medical officer of CareSpot Express Healthcare, an urgent care and occupational outpatient services organization, and 657-bed TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

"We are pleased to welcome Dr. Campbell to this important role," said David T. Vandewater, president and CEO of Ardent Health Services. "From day one, Ardent has always maintained a strong focus on quality - setting aggressive standards for our facilities and consistently measuring our progress. As our company continues to grow, Dr. Campbell's experience collaborating with physicians, nurses and other leaders to drive clinical process improvements and other innovations that can be scaled across the organization will bring significant benefit to the patients and communities we serve."

A board-certified emergency medicine physician, Dr. Campbell holds both a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and a master's of business administration from Temple University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.

Dr. Campbell replaces Steven Landgarten, M.D., an internal medicine and endocrinology physician at Hillcrest HealthCare System in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who announced his plans to focus solely on his medical practice earlier this year. Dr. Landgarten has served as Ardent's chief medical officer and chief quality officer since 2006.
