Optomec Hosts 9th Annual International Aerosol Jet User Meeting

Optomec, a leading global supplier of production grade additive manufacturing systems for 3D printed electronics (Aerosol Jet) and 3D printed metals (LENS), announced today that the company hosted its 9th annual International Aerosol Jet User Group Meeting at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California earlier this month. The User Group Meeting focused on Aerosol Jet printing for production applications, and provided attendees with the latest developments in Aerosol Jet printed electronics.

More than 20 users from 15 companies attended the meeting, including representatives from industrial, academic and government organizations. Users presented their work on a variety of Aerosol Jet printed electronic applications, including 3D Printed Structural Electronics, Flexible Electronics, Printed conformal sensors and more. Attendees of the User Group Meeting were also treated to a presentation and guided tour of the NextFlex lab facility in San Jose, where users observed Optomec’s advanced Aerosol Jet 5X system for 3D printed electronics.

Mike O’Reilly, Director of Aerosol Jet Products at Optomec, states that, “At this year’s meeting we continued to witness a breadth of customer applications where Aerosol Jet is used to address next-generation product and manufacturing solutions. User presentations covered printing of temperature sensors for the nuclear industry; structural electronics applications for semiconductor packaging; printing new materials for flexible electronics applications; and the development of next-generation nano-copper materials developed specifically for the Aerosol Jet process. There was excellent interaction between the users and with Optomec applications experts, furthering two way learning for all in attendance. With our rapid growth, these user interactions provide a perfect forum for the exchange of ideas and technical road-mapping, and we look forward to next year’s 10th annual Aerosol Jet User Group Meeting, along with a host of new faces.”
