TEC Announces Alliance With Comanche Electric Cooperative

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Electric Cooperatives leaders have announced an alliance with Comanche Electric Cooperative, one of North Central Texas' top electric cooperatives. Endorsed by CECA's board of directors, the agreement brings approximately 5,000 miles of line and more than 16,000 meters in seven counties into areas already served by TEC alliance partnerships.

"This is an important alliance for TEC," said Johnny Andrews, chief operating officer of TEC Manufacturing & Distribution Services. "Comanche Electric Cooperative is a vital part of the infrastructure serving North Central Texans. We are eager to work with them as they deliver power to their members."

"Comanche Electric Cooperative is built on the power of the cooperative," said Alan Lesley, CECA general manager, on what the partnership means for members. "Through the alliance partnership with TEC, we look forward to taking the power of the cooperative to the next level for our members."

Strengthening Texas cooperatives in today's competitive market is at the heart of the alliance partnership initiative for TEC, which boasts 22 alliance partnerships.

"Every new alliance strengthens and improves our negotiating power," Andrews said. "It's good for individual cooperatives, and it's good for Texas cooperatives as a whole."

While TEC provides members with many valuable services, the alliance supply model is especially notable because it immediately reduces operational and redundant costs, benefiting each cooperatives' bottom line. Leveraging the aggregation and scale that alliance partnerships make possible, TEC makes available high-quality products from leading manufacturers at competitive prices. TEC is proud to be able to pass those savings on to its member cooperatives.
