nQ Medical Selected as Top AI Start-Up by PRISME Forum

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Pharmaceutical R&D Information Systems Management Executives Forum (PRISME Forum) conferred first place honors during its first artificial intelligence (AI) start-up competition at its 2017 North American Fall Technical Meeting. Unanimous top recognition went to Cambridge-based, nQ Medical, Inc, for its machine learning platform that collects passive data, 24/7, from personal devices (smart phones, tablets, laptops, et al) to aid in early diagnosis, disease progression monitoring, and measuring impact of drug therapy in patients with neurodegenerative diseases.

PRISME Forum members are senior leaders from the top 40 global "biotech and pharma" R&D information management and technology ("R&D IT") organizations. It meets semi-annually, once in North American and once in Europe. The group identifies and benchmarks pre-competitive trends in R&D Information Technology among member companies and shares best practices to facilitate drug discovery and development within members' respective companies.

Rich Bavasso, CEO of nQ, stated, "We are proud of our team and our work in helping to guide practical use of AI/machine learning to optimize life sciences and healthcare. Our MIT incubated platform has far reaching capability to support better management of patients with neuromotor and neurocognitive disorders such as Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease."

"The quality of the start-ups in our Forum was incredible. The theme of our Fall Conference technical meeting was "The Potential of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare," said Errol Sandler, Vice-Chair of the PRISME Forum. "Having insight to the impressive work of the start-ups inspires the organizations represented by the PRISME Forum to explore integrating these innovations into member organizations."

About nQ Medical, Inc.

Everyone has a unique typing signature. There is rich information hidden in the way fingers interact with smart devices that allows for motor impairment tracking and early detection of neurodegenerative disease onset. Research has revealed that the interaction with computers and mobile devices can reveal with startling accuracy the presence of certain neuromotor, neurocognitive, and neurobehavioral disorders. nQ Medical has developed a validated artificial intelligence tool (neuroQWERTY) to open a broad opportunity to better diagnose disease(s), monitor disease progression, and track therapeutic intervention effectiveness.

Machine learning algorithms detect subtle psychomotor impairment typical of these diseases by analyzing the timing of keystrokes and device pressure. Consistent with HIPAA, no information on what is typed is captured. No proprietary device or changes to personal hardware are required. The AI tool provides unified data management across the entire drug/device development lifecycle, from clinical trials to clinician dashboards, from patient engagement to population health allowing for a completely integrated experience.

The machine learning approach provides a complete perspective from individual baseline data. Physicians can prescribe with confidence, having unparalleled access to 24/7 real-time data from patient's personal devices to track ongoing therapeutic impact of medication, nQ reveals insights to help the clinician "see" and allowing for protected personal data to be shared as part of the normal interaction between clinicians and patients.
