CapTech Food Fight Raises over 5000 Meals for Philabundance

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Competing in the inaugural CapTech National Food Fight, the Philadelphia office of CapTech raised over $2,500 for Philabundance. This friendly competition among the company's eight office locations will provide over 5,000 meals for hungry neighbors in the Philadelphia area. The check presentation took place at the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market on December 8, 2017 during a volunteer event.

"I'm so proud to see the generosity, commitment to community, and creativity that the Food Fight inspired among our Philly CapTechers," said CapTech Principal Andy Sofish. "At the end of the competition, it is amazing and humbling to see our organization come together in such spirit to make a local and national impact against hunger."

CapTech's National Food Fight raised over $40,000 for local food banks across the country this year. CapTechers in the Philadelphia office competed in the friendly rivalry against other CapTech markets to raise the most funds per capita for local food banks over a two week period in November 2017. The Food Fight started as a local competition in 2013 at the company's headquarters in Richmond, VA and was expanded company-wide this year with enthusiasm and excitement. Local CapTechers initiated creative fundraising tactics like an office bake-off competition, save-your-change jars and raffles for lunches with leadership.

"We couldn't do the work we do at Philabundance without the help of the community. Events like the CapTech Food Fight raise much needed funds and awareness to fight hunger in the Greater Philadelphia region," said Jaclyn Elwell, Philabundance's Senior Manager - Strategic Partnerships.

Philabundance is the largest hunger relief organization in the Delaware Valley, serving over 90,000 food-insecure adults and children in the region each week. The mission of Philabundance is to drive hunger from our communities today and end hunger forever. Through the assistance of over 17,000 volunteers and a dedicated staff, Philabundance acquires, rescues, and distributes food to help those in need, and advocates for policies that increase food access in the region.
