HSDBC Honors Admiral Paul Zukunft and Colleen Manaher at Its Annual Dinner

The Homeland Security & Defense Business Council honored Admiral Paul F. Zukunft, the 25th Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard; and Ms. Colleen M. Manaher, Executive Director of Planning, Program Analysis, and Evaluation in the Office of Field Operations at U.S. Customs and Border Protection at its Annual Dinner on December 14, 2017.

The Commandant received the organization’s Distinguished Service Award for his lifetime of service and leadership in the Homeland Security Enterprise, and delivered the keynote. Previous recipients have included former Department of Homeland Security Secretaries Michael Chertoff and Jeh Johnson; former Senator Joseph Lieberman; and Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. The Commandant will be retiring this coming May 2018.

Colleen Manaher, Executive Director of CBP’s Policy, Program Analysis and Evaluation Office and head of its Entry/Exit Program, was recognized for her efforts in support of Government—Industry Engagement. This is the 2nd annual award the Council has bestowed on a high-level government official. Last year it inaugurated the award by citing DHS Chief Procurement Officer, Soraya Correa, for her work in bringing government and industry together to tackle the many challenges in the Homeland Security Enterprise.

Marc Pearl, President and CEO of the Council, said, “We could not find two more deserving honorees than Admiral Zukunft and Colleen Manaher – individuals who drive modernization initiatives, push internal innovation, and seek to work with the collective thought leadership that resides in the companies that provide the technology, service and product solutions to the government. We are the ones honored by their leadership and service to the nation.”

The Council’s Annual Dinner is its year-end celebration of the organization’s mission to substantively engage industry executives and government officials in the Homeland Security Enterprise. Member companies Aveshka, CACI, Eagle Ray, Grant Thornton, LMI, McKinsey & Company, Oracle, and Reed Tech co-sponsored the event.
