First New Fire Alarm Product of its Kind in Last 50+ Years Launches

STAMFORD, Connecticut, July 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --Safer Alarms([)(TM]) announces its global launch of the first Arrow-Certified, fire detection product of its kind since 1965 when battery-operated smoke detectors first hit the market.

Marc Toland is an inventor and entrepreneur who began his career 27 years ago as a stockbroker at a major NYSE firm. On Christmas Eve in 2011, a neighbor's house burned to the ground, taking the lives of three small children and their grandparents. This was his impetus to improve the way fires are detected in the home.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and building codes recommend that you do NOT put a traditional detector in close proximity to a potential source of fire because it will melt before being effective. But most fires don't start over doorways or on ceilings where traditional smoke detectors are placed. Moreover, by the time smoke travels to a traditionally placed detector, it may be too late to escape the flames. For decades we have been detecting the derivative of fire (smoke), but it is often the smoke that kills you.

Safer Alarms are not smoke detectors. They are compact, heat sensor and companion remote alarm systems that eliminate an increase in false alarms such as smoke from the stove. The heat sensor is placed at high risk locations near the source of most fires (kitchen, laundry room, overloaded outlets, nursery, Christmas tree, etc.). As the temperature hits the critical danger zone (150 degrees F.) the sensor sends a wireless signal to the alarm BEFORE the smoke travels to traditional detectors. The alarm meets all building codes and will continue to sound even if the heat sensor has melted - giving the consumer more time to escape and mitigate property damage.

Safer Alarms has also created the Safer Christmas Tree Alarm which hangs like a traditional ornament in the tree and will send a wireless signal to the remote alarm unit the instant a fire event is detected.

The first round of distribution is being offered on IndieGogo. Both the Safer Home Alarm System and the Safer Christmas Tree Alarm will hit retails stores this fall and will sell for $60 but are offered on IndieGogo starting at $20 each.
