Aquanta Partners With ICF on Innovative Home Energy Optimization Programs for Two Leading California Utilities

TYSONS, Va., March 27, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Aquanta Inc. is proud to have their products featured in the new Home Energy Optimization Program. This program, which is administered by ICF, brings Aquanta's market-leading smart water heater controller to Pacific Gas and Electric's residential customers as a key piece of a customized package of energy-management technologies. This package of technologies is provided to homeowners at a significant discount, along with additional energy-saving products and services, to reduce energy consumption throughout their homes.

Aquanta will also be a featured intelligent efficiency product in Southern California Gas' (SCG) impending Home Energy Automation Resource Technology (HEARTh) Program, also administered by ICF. This program is expected to formally launch and be available to SCG customers this coming spring.

"Aquanta is thrilled and honored to be one of the featured products in these groundbreaking programs," stated Matt Carlson, CEO of Aquanta Inc. "Water heating is the single most significant residential end use of natural gas in California, so it only makes sense that intelligent water heater control is part of the package."

ICF, a global consultancy and digital services provider, has been selected to implement both pioneering residential energy efficiency "pay-for-performance" programs. These meter-based programs are based on normalized metered energy consumption savings and are the first of their kind in the U.S. Also, by removing traditional barriers to technology adoption, these programs provide PG&E and SCG customers the means for consistent and meaningful energy savings without having to change their behavior.

"Aquanta's smart controls, ease of installation and outstanding field performance are a natural fit for inclusion in the Home Energy Optimization and HEARTh programs," noted Mike Mernick, Senior Vice President for ICF. "We think Aquanta provides an outstanding solution to customers seeking to reduce their water heating energy consumption and costs."

Aquanta enables remote and convenient control of a water heater via a smart phone or web-enabled device, and has versions for standard electric and gas-powered water heaters. The gas version is the only retrofittable controller on the market for gas water heaters. The electric version has a Time of Use (TOU) Rate feature with PG&E's various TOU rates pre-loaded. This feature controls the water heater automatically to keep it from heating during the most expensive price periods, saving money for the consumer while ensuring hot water availability.

With the purchase of a smart thermostat through the Home Energy Optimization program, PG&E residential customers can get a suite of professionally-installed energy-saving measures worth over $2,000.
