Macrometa Expands Leadership and Research Team to Drive Edge Computing Innovation

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today Macrometa Corporation, the provider of a serverless global edge platform for developers, announced the addition of Christopher Meiklejohn as Consulting Scientist and Joshua Petty as Vice President of Products and Marketing.

Christopher Meiklejohn is a noted authority and researcher in the field of distributed systems and databases. He has made important contributions in the emerging field of Conflict-Free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs) - an exciting new approach to creating highly efficient, large scale, geographically distributed databases and communications systems. He has also extensively contributed to the development of Riak (at Basho), AntidoteDB, Partisan and Lasp (a part of INRIA's SyncFree), and published original, noteworthy research on the use of Conflict-Free Replicated Data Types. He has also held internship positions at Microsoft Research working on Microsoft's Orleans framework. Christopher is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University in Software Engineering with a focus on distributed programming.

"As our Consulting Scientist, Christopher is helping Macrometa formalize the mathematical proofs of our core distributed database algorithms and architecture. He is also involved in helping us develop new approaches to removing the most important constraints in building fault tolerant and highly resilient geo-distributed databases." - Chetan Venkatesh, Co-Founder and CEO.

Joshua Petty joins as Vice President of Products and Marketing. A veteran of multiple early stage and hyper growth startups, Joshua (JP) has also held leadership positions at VMware, EMC, and Dell. Most recently JP was a Chief Strategist across mid-market and global accounts, and is committed to Macrometa's delivery of a customer-focused experience. He stated that "Macrometa has created an incredible technology that expands the universe of use cases that can run on the edge. What excites me the most about Macrometa is the ability to solve problems that current cloud architectures are ill-equipped to handle."

Macrometa was co-founded by Chetan Venkatesh and Durga Gokina, and is backed by BGV, Partech, Shasta Ventures and Sway Ventures. The Macrometa team shares an imagination fueled by a vision of a state of waitless-ness, an instant Internet experience where ideas can be expressed quickly and easily as code, applications, APIs and more on a network of global edge data centers.
