Canadian Manufacturer Superior Glove Finds Innovative Ways to Combat COVID-19

ACTON, Ontario, May 12, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Superior Glove, a Canadian manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE) known for its innovation, has put its engineering and creative talents to work in the fight against COVID-19. In addition to donating tens of thousands of disposable gloves to local businesses in need, including hospitals and long-term care facilities, Superior Glove has also retooled its manufacturing infrastructure to produce much-needed PPE for workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"At Superior Glove, our mandate has always been to leverage technology and innovation to keep workers as safe as possible," commented company president, Tony Geng. "We are thrilled to be able to use our expertise in designing and manufacturing innovative PPE to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic."

Geng himself has been highly involved in the company's efforts, which include manufacturing face shields and hand sanitizer, with other items possible in the future.

Face Shields
Using a laser-cutter purchased long ago for a now-defunct product line, Superior Glove was able to start cutting plastic sheets for the face shields almost immediately. Using other items from their existing operations, they were able to manufacture functional, comfortable face shields that can be worn in conjunction with other safety gear such as face masks and safety goggles, in record time. Manufacturing the face shields in Acton, Ontario, the company is able to produce 10,000 shields per day. In addition, Superior Glove is also helping distribute face shields that are being produced by two Ontario cabinet makers.

Hand Sanitizer
Having one time manufactured hand sanitizer, Superior Glove was able to start producing this much-needed item within a matter of weeks. Using existing equipment and sourcing raw materials from local distilleries, the company is producing over 40 tons of sanitizer a month in four different sizes: 60 ml (2oz), 250 ml (8.5 oz), 500 ml (17 oz), and 1,500 ml (50.7 oz).

"I'm so proud of the way our team has come together in this time of crisis and am very excited about the great new products we're able to provide to help fight this novel coronavirus," said Joe Geng, Vice President of Superior Glove. "This is not a case of people simply doing their jobs - many of our employees gave up their weekends and leisure time to put in the required effort to get these products to market as fast as possible. Because of the team's dedicated efforts, Superior Glove has been able to get these products to those who need them in record time."

As a proud community supporter, Superior Glove will be donating the initial production run of its face shields and hand sanitizer to local community organizations in need including hospitals and long-term care facilities.
