CURRUS Co. Ltd. has been taking an active role in the defence of Hungary for 50 years. Their logo, depicting a warrior with cutting and thrusting weapons, riding a chariot, is an excellent representation of their primary mission, which is to support the home defence of the Hungarian state through the maintenance and on-site and central repair of military technology, supporting, servicing equipment, electric generators, as well as fire-fighting vehicles, bomb-disposal vehicles and various trailers comprising complex, state of the art devices, and technical solutions.

The configuration of their repair halls and machinery facilitate the professional major overhaul of battle tanks, armoured vehicles, combat and other motor vehicles, electric generators as well as the repair and overhaul of other special devices and equipment used in the fields of Armament, Engineer technique, and CBRN defence.

Concerning weapons and devices of the armament service the company’s main activities range from dismounting, testing, adjustment, and maintenance to the full service of canons, coaxial machine guns, and antiaircraft machine guns.

The most significant development of the past few years in the Hungarian defence industry was the modernisation of the BTR-80 armoured personnel carrier (APC) vehicles. In order to increase combat effectiveness of the infantry units a night vision optical sight and a NATO-compatible communication equipment have been installed.

Besides the standardised, original versions of the APC, CURRUS Co. Ltd. has also developed a radiation and chemical reconnaissance vehicle, a recovery-towing vehicle, an ambulance (MEDEVAC) vehicle, an obstacle-clearing (breaching) and an engineer reconnaissance vehicle as well.

The company is well prepared for the planning and construction of different vehicle versions in order to meet special requirements and demands; an outstanding display of which are the modern fire-fighting and EOD vehicles built on all-terrain chassis, and equipped with beacon lights, and audio-alarms, as well as the other various trailers and superstructures designed by CURRUS Ltd.

Pursuant to the Vehicle Procurement Programme of the HDF we produce cable-winches, and cable-guiding system elements for the vehicles.  The company is entitled to carry out the tasks of decommissioning or destruction or withdrawn of obsolete battle tanks, combat vehicles and artillery assets under the provisions of international treaties (CFE). The professional Surface Treatment Shop, upon commission, undertakes phosphating, electro-galvanizing, anodizing, and aluminizing tasks.

CURRUS Mechanic Shop, pursuant to the company’s main mission, is capable of the manufacture and welding of light-steel and aluminium structures, as well as carrying out other, various types of metalwork. Due to the recent increase in their capabilities, the company is now ready to offer their decades-long experience and professional skills gained in the area of vehicle repair, the design, manufacture, and processing of steel structures and in the area of the coating and surface treatment of metal parts to civilian customers as well.

CURRUS Co. Ltd. carries out the tasks related to the training of military logistic HDF personnel particularly concerning the diagnostic testing of off-road passenger cars, the operation of the URAL 4320 DAM (a recovery crane truck), the operation of various electric generators as well as concerning the handling and operation of the modernised BTR-80 APC, and other new equipment to be used in theatre areas.

The official vehicle examination of passenger cars, trucks, trailers and tractors is also possible at CURRUS' state accredited Vehicle Testing Facility not only for the vehicles of the Hungarian Defence Forces, but for civilian customers as well.
