OMICRON INGENIERIA LTDA., is an engineering company founded in 2004 in Medellin, Colombia and dedicated to the custom design and development of electronic circuits for OEMs.

History:

  • OMICRON INGENIERIA was founded by five professionals in the area: Three electrical engineers, a business manager and a production engineer.
  • The first product was developed in 2004 as an answer to the need of hospitals for alarms and cold-storage systems for the control of temperature.
  • In 2005, the Company initiated the process of design and development of laboratory equipment controls.
  • Since 2005, OMICRON INGENIERIA markets medical equipment accessories initially under the Brand Solaris, in 2008, under the brand Biogenesis and, currently, under the brand Unimed.
  • In 2007, OMICRON INGENIERIA developed two prototypes for the Center for Science and Technology of Antioquia (CTA): A closed incubator and an infusion syringe.
  • In 2008, the Company initiated the development of prototypes for hospital electric beds and industrial refrigeration controls.
  • In 2009 and 2010, OMICRON INGENIERIA initiated the production of different types of temperature controls and the development of accessories for hospital bed manufacturers, respectively.

Design & Development of Electronic Circuits

OMICRON INGENIERIA specializes in the design and development of electronic circuits tailored to the needs of each client. The Company’s custom electronic circuits are ideal for applications in industrial and hospital areas.

Laboratory Equipment Controls

OMICRON INGENIERIA designs and develops different controls for clinical laboratory manufacturers for the control of temperature, speed and time, such as:

Temperature Controls

Heating Controls AlphaTEMP for temperatures up to 100°C: Temperature controls of the series ALFA (α-TEMP) are ideal for the control of temperature of up to 100°C and guarantee high precision and reliability in industrial processes. The temperature sensor is placed on an integrated circuit and has a precision of a tenth of a degree (0.1ºC) compared to equally accurate systems based on RTD, such as the PT100.

The desired temperature can be easily configured by the end user and when the temperature exceeds the allowed limit, the user is notified through visual and audible alarms.

• Two power outputs: TRIAC 5A /115 VAC and the auxiliary output, relay 6A/115 VAC.

     • Card: 9 to 12 VAC/DC at 200mA.
     • Easy end-user programming.
     • Programmable password protected controls.

Delta Temp Temperature Control:

DELTA (δ-Temp) temperature controls are ideal for the control of temperatures up to 150 ºC, and guarantee high precision, reliability and safety in industrial processes. The temperature sensor, has a built-in NTC thermistor with a precision of one tenth of a degree (0.1°C), compared to similar systems, such as the RTD PT100.

The desired temperature can be easily configured by the end user and when the temperature exceeds the allowed limit, the user is notified through visual and audible alarms.

BetaTemp Refrigeration Controls (Temperature range: -40 to +40ºC):

The BetaTemp refrigeration controls are ideal for the monitoring and control of the temperature of refrigeration equipment, such as blood, chemical, drug and food storage equipment. Temperature controls of the series BETA (β-TEMP) are ideal for applications in refrigeration systems and can be easily configured and record events through visual and audible alarms that indicate high and low temperature.

Main applications:

BetaTemp temperature controls are ideal for hospitals, clinics, laboratories and pharmacies, for the storage of drugs, reactive material, serum, blood and food, among others.

EpsilonTemp Heating Controls (Up to 300 ºC):

Ideal for laboratory applications in temperatures of up to 300ºC and equipment, such as incubators, environmental chambers, sterilization and disinfection equipment.

ε-Temp heating controls are designed to cover a wide temperature range. They have an elegant design with a liquid crystal display and can be adapted to custom designs.

• 2 x 16 characters white liquid crystal display
• Three solid state relay (SSR) outputs
• Five programming buttons with different functions

Applications:

Laboratory equipment, such as ovens, incubators, disinfection equipment, equipment for the food industry.

Speed & Time Controls

The Company manufactures different models of digital speed and time controls for laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges, micro centrifuges, different types of agitators and homogenizers, among others. All with AC and DC motors.

These circuits are manufactured according to the specific needs of OEMs in terms of space, engine type, type of display, user programming, cost, etc.

The main features of these controls are:

  • PID (proportional integral derivative) speed control algorithm which ensures speed stability (maximum error of ± 30 rpm).
  • Fixed or user programmable speed and time control with display option.
  • TRIAC or solid state relay (SSR) output.
  • Hardware and software systems that prevent failures that might lead to the engine surpassing speed limits.
  • Audible and visual indication of start and end time.
  • Optical speed sensors.
  • Detailed instructions and free training on the assembly of the products.

Climate Control Systems

OMICRON INGENIERIA is a company committed to sustainable development and the delivery of energy efficiency solutions, such as air conditioning and refrigeration systems for residential or industrial use.

For this purpose, in 2014 the Company initiated a partnership with the company AIRE VERDE INGENIERÍA, for the development of a whole new level of air conditioning systems that are able to achieve efficiency of over 40% compared to traditional refrigeration systems.

Advantages:

  • Generation and accumulation of cold air during night hours, to be used during peak hours.
  • Automation and efficient control of the entire system.

Medical Device Accessories

OMICRON INGENIERIA specializes in the marketing and distribution of accessories for medical devices, such as:

  • Oximetry Sensors (SPO2),
  • Electrocardiogram Cables (ECG, EKG),
  • Non-invasive Pressure devices (NIP),
  • Batteries of all kinds.

Solutions for the Health Sector

Automated configuration of the temperature and systematization of the entire cold chain that allows users to control the temperature of all refrigerators and cold rooms through a web page. OMIKRON INGENIERIA is equipped with alarm systems to indicate temperature loss. The monitoring and control of the entire cold chain system can be performed through a PC.
