PLASTEXTIL S.A.S., is one of the most renowned companies in the vinyl textile industry in Colombia. With over 50 years of experience in the sector, the enterprise is dedicated to the manufacture of rubber textiles mainly of PVC material, using coating and laminating processes. The Company specializes in the distribution of high quality products to various market sectors, such as tents, awnings and umbrellas for the agro-industrial, mining, construction, military and residential sectors, among others. PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. develops new products on a daily basis, and uses cutting-edge technology, according to customers’ special requirements.

PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. is an active member of the IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International) since 2006, an organization that supports industrial textile activities. The Company is also a member of the IGS (International Geosynthetics Society) and participates in many trade fairs and conventions.

The Company is ISO 9001:2008 certified by Bureau Veritas for the design, production and marketing of vinyl textiles, under Certificate No. 221805.

PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. applies several production processes including coating and laminating. The coating process (impregnation) is universally recognized as the most efficient method for the manufacture of high endurance tarpaulins for truck covers, tensile structures, warehouses and similar applications.

PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. is a pioneer in the development of strong and durable materials, through the impregnation process, i.e. the spreading of fluid PVC over a textile (which is usually a very strong polyester fabric) that penetrates the fabric resulting in the excellent adhesion of the materials and preventing the PVC from coming off the fabric under high stress conditions. This process also reduces the shrinking that tends to occur over time in the tarpaulin.

All products of PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. contain high quality pigments and other additives, which perform really well when exposed to UV rays. Further, and thanks to the cooperation with the Swiss company SANITIZED, PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. has standardized a treatment for protection against algae, fungi and bacteria (with the latter covering a wide spectrum of micro-organisms) that could affect the tarpaulins. Moreover, the Company’s tarpaulins have an adequate amount of vinyl, which makes the products more durable in time and easier to repair.

PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. also uses a lamination process, i.e. the manufacture of a PVC film that is applied on a fabric, either on one side or both sides, according to the requirements of the customer. The appearance and properties of the final product depend on the type of the fabric in use. Through the lamination process are created products, such as lightweight textiles with excellent endurance to UV rays. The pigments utilised are of high quality, and for this reason PLASTEXTIL’s products are recognized to be among the best in the market in terms of durability, flexibility and colour fastness. The lamination process is also utilised for the development of promotional materials, liners and vinyl fabrics, among others.

PLASTEXTIL's products can come with a matt or gloss finish, namely acrylic and polyurethane finish, allowing for a better product performance against environmental agents, as well as easier cleaning.

In order to improve the performance of the products, a special finishing treatment can be applied:

  • Double side finishing treatment,
  • Additives to improve resistance to high and low temperatures,
  • Fire retardant finishing.

PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. has developed various types of fabrics for the military sector with applications in Homeland Security and combat environments. Among the products developed are external lining for bullet-proof vests, military, general purpose and ranch tents, as well as mobile stretchers, backpacks, igloo tents, ponchos and truck covers, among others. Such textiles are very specialized and are compliant with specific military standards.

PLASTEXTIL S.A.S. has also developed some special products for the Navy, such as fabrics for inflatable boats, boat tents, upholstery, flooring, roofing fabrics, etc. These products have special properties in order to withstand the extreme marine conditions.
