UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA - UNAD, is a national autonomous academic institution, governed by a special regime, whose main purpose is to offer open and distance education. The Institution is linked to the National Education Ministry as far as policies and education planning.
UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL ABIERTA Y A DISTANCIA - UNAD, as an autonomous academic entity, ruled by special pay arrangements for its teachers (Ordinance 1279-1202), special budget management and special contributions by the government (Art. 87 Law No. 30 of 1992), is linked to the Ministry of Education and the following autonomous universities:
