Zaklady Mechaniczne Tarnow, is a Polish defense manufacturing company. Initially founded during World War I as a local train repair workshop, between the wars the company was part of the Polish State Railways. Confiscated, dismantled and sent to Germany during World War II, the company was rebuilt as a train repair workshop, but in 1951 it was turned into a defence contractor producing guns, firearms and machine tools.

Zaklady Mechaniczne Tarnow boast a comprehensive offer of armament and military equipment, particularly sniper rifles and machine guns, grenade launchers, mortars, anti-aircraft artillery and artillery/rocket weapon as well as training equipment. The company also offers cooperation services in the realm of plastic working, galvanic as well as heat and chemical treatment plus machining.

Zaklady Mechaniczne Tarnow produces machine guns and modern sniper rifles: specialist shooting devices for precise target destruction from a very large distance. The arms produced in Tarnów have been used by the Polish Army and put to test by snipers in the most difficult combat conditions. Selected models are also offered in sports varieties.

The weapons are produced chiefly with the army and uniformed services in mind. On top of sniper rifles and machine guns, The ZMT SA manufacture other light weapon to support the infantry including one-shot grenade launchers, revolver shotguns and automatic grenade launchers calibre 40 mm as well as mortars calibre 60 mm.

A majority of these products have been adopted by the Polish Army, including Special Forces. For many years, the company has supplied the Polish Army with anti-aircraft artillery and artillery/rocket weapon and also upgrades this type of equipment to new standards, tailoring it to the changing contemporary combat requirements. Weapons from Tarnow are used in nearly all armoured fighting vehicles owned by the Polish Army including the latest Rosomak wheeled armoured vehicles.
