Boeing Military Aircraft

Boeing Military Aircraft builds tactical, tanker and airlift aircraft; weapons; surveillance and engagement products; and unmanned airborne systems. The business unit is the largest in Boeing Defense, Space & Security, and has 21,000 employees worldwide. Its expertise extends to several existing products, such as the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, the AH-64 Apache, the V-22 Osprey and the P-8 Poseidon, and well beyond to new products, such as the KC-46A tanker, the Unmanned Little Bird and the Ah-6i.

Boeing Global Services & Support provides best-value mission readiness to its customers through total support solutions. Operating at 264 locations worldwide, this global business sustains aircraft and systems with a full spectrum of products and services, including aircraft maintenance, modification and upgrades; supply chain management; engineering and logistics support; pilot and maintenance training, and other defense and government services. GS&S offers a unique capability in the market, being able to integrate all elements of sustainment within a single organization.

Network and Space Systems

Boeing Network and Space Systems includes electronic and information solutions; strategic missile and defense systems; satellites and other space and intelligence systems; and space exploration activities. This business provides the Global Positioning System satellites, support to the International Space Station, and now the largest rocket ever built—the Space Launch System. In addition to cybersecurity and information management advancements, it builds sensor suites, maintains the Minuteman program and advances laser missile defense.

Boeing Phantom Works

Boeing Phantom Works addresses emerging market opportunities to capture vital new business that will enhance Boeing Defense, Space & Security's core and extend the company's presence in new and untraditional frontiers. By partnering with Boeing Research & Technology, Phantom Works leverages enterprisewide innovation and concept development to rapidly prototype and apply these new technologies to affordably meet customers' needs. Boeing matures systems with best-in-industry analysis, 3-D modeling, simulations and real-world experimentation.

BDS Development

BDS Development brings the best of the best to performance on development programs to ensure first-time quality and repeatable performance. Programs benefit from a skilled and diverse workforce aligned around development excellence and draw directly from a full range of cored air and space vehicle systems, mission systems and test disciplines; engineering best practices; program management and integration. Current BDS Development programs are: Air Force KC-46 aerial refueling tanker; the Air Force’s presidential aircraft; CST-100 spacecraft for NASA’s Commercial Crew program; NASA’s Space Launch System rocket; Boeing’s 502 small satellite effort; and BDS work on Boeing’s 777X commercial airplane.

Joint Ventures and Subsidiaries

Boeing has two joint ventures with Lockheed Martin called the “United Launch Alliance” and “United Space Alliance,” which provide a reliable, cost-efficient spacecraft launch services for the U.S. government and supported the Space Shuttle program. Boeing also has a number of wholly owned subsidiaries, which include Argon ST, Boeing Defence Australia, HardwareWall, Insitu, Kestrel, Spectrolab, Twister and Tapestry Solutions.
