The Opportunity - Wanted: Intent Detection Systems
Technologies Ltd develops an automated system for the
detection of a personís intent, which could be especially
useful for detecting malicious intent, as in the case of
terrorists, criminals and the like.
The current reality of international terrorism presents
the necessity for early detection of individuals with
malicious intent as a critical, wide spread need. As a
result, there is a world wide effort to adopt advanced
security measures in trying to overcome this critical gap.
However, while protecting the public, Western governments
are still required to avoid discriminative and intrusive
measures, since they are obliged to maintain privacy and
human rights as much as possible. In addition to this,
security measures must not cause a significant disturbance
with procedures and operational flow in protected sites,
as well as major inconvenience to the public.
The WeCU system deals directly with these challenges. The
system is able to identify persons who have any kind of
involvement in a defined threat. The system identifies
this involvement without requiring any type of a-priory
information as to the checked subject, and while there are
no other alerting signals, such as suspicious behaviour,
belongings or profile. The system performs a fast and
covert test procedure, which does not interfere with the
routine activities and the flow at the protected site.
The system is based on a unique probing method which uses
knowledge from the behavioural sciences in combination
with advanced biometric sensors. The system is effective
for the detection of individuals who are manipulative,
calm, do not have guilty knowledge, and are not being
deceptive at the time of the detection. At the same time,
it eliminates false results out of detecting individuals
who are stressed or behaving suspiciously resulting
personal, unrelated reasons.
To date, the Company is busy in the development of the
first commercial product - the "Investigative System".
The company had also successfully completed feasibility
research (proof of concept), and a first field test with
an Alpha system.
The development of the "Investigative System" is funded
by a 3M$ investment raised recently from a private
investor ("Angel") and by a grant awarded by the Israeli
government "Chief Scientist". The first efforts of the
development were in part funded by the Israeli Chief
Scientist, and by two USA\DHS\TSA grants. In addition,
the Company' shareholders invested a more than $850,000.
In October 2003, the Company filed a patent application,
currently, the in the National phase. (USA, Canada,
Europe, Japan, Australia and Israel).
The Company signed a MOU with Penn State University
(International Center for the Study of Terrorism) for
active research cooperation.
