2016 has emerged as a strong year for the defence and security market in Latin America with demand driven by homeland security concerns, counter-narcotic operations and engagement in PSO operations. Demand for IFVs and amphibious capability is active across the South American region and the Peruvian Army is seeking 106 armoured fighting vehicles and 105 main battle tanks (MBTs) as part of its 'Harpay Nina' (Firepower in native Quechua) programme - one of the largest requirements in the region and the reason the conference is taking place in Lima, Peru.
