UofA Safe boasts some of the latest features on the AppArmor platform, including the brand new “Work Alone” feature. This capability enables the app to check in with an end user at regular intervals when they’re working alone. If the user doesn’t respond to the check in request from the app, then it automatically contacts the end user’s emergency contact for assistance.

The University of Alberta will be rolling out the app to select workers and, along with the other institutions in development or currently live in the appstores, is evidence of AppArmor’s growing market leadership in the province.

"This is a very exciting time for both AppArmor and our partner institutions in Alberta," said David Sinkinson, Co-Founder of AppArmor. "As a Canadian firm, we’re thrilled to be working with more institutions in Alberta. We know that our organizations love the combination of real-time content management, unlimited mass notification capability and advanced location services features. When compared to the other app options out there, AppArmor custom safety apps are the most effective and affordable way to help make higher education campuses safer places."

AppArmor is also currently offering significant discounts for other interested institutions in the province and across Canada generally.

The University of Alberta, Medicine Hat College, and Lakeland College join the hundreds of other institutions across Canada, the United States, Australia and Europe that have chosen AppArmor for their custom mobile safety app platform or mass notification solution.

All of the custom mobile safety apps launching this September offer students, faculty, and staff customized safety features and resources for their institution. AppArmor custom mobile safety apps improve emergency response in a crisis and make campus police resources more accessible. Safety apps are now increasingly viewed as a necessity at many higher education institutions across the globe.

The AppArmor custom mobile safety platform provides over 50 different powerful safety features including:
